Director of Development has a strong commitment to a positive work-life balance, and is seeking a Director of Development to help us make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.


Position Summary ( is a ten-year-old, national, equality-based adoption grant program with a strong donor base. The organization’s revenue relies on its annual appeal, major gifts and event revenue and has doubled in size in the past five years. The primary responsibilities of this position are to identify and cultivate major donors, and to manage the organization’s annual giving campaign and existing donor base. This position is also responsible for providing ongoing fundraising and prospect reports to the President and the Board of Directors.



  • Work with President and Board of Directors to plan, implement and manage a comprehensive national program to identify, cultivate, solicit, recognize, and renew/upgrade major donors.

  • Personally develop close working relationships with members of the Board, key stakeholders, volunteers, high-end donors and prospects to maximize our fundraising potential.

  • Identify new major donor prospects and develop cultivation strategy to turn prospects into supporters.

  • Develop and maintain annual donor strategy and work plan, including tracking and monitoring prospects and donors through all phases: identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and renewal.

  • Oversee all aspects of Annual Giving fund and ongoing donor cultivation and correspondence.

  • Work with bookkeeper to reconcile donor records with the general ledger.

  • Further cultivate peer-to-peer fundraising program and support individual donor initiatives.



  • 4+ years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success in major donor relations, prospecting and cultivating and annual giving campaigns.

  • Friendly and outgoing personality, hard-working, entrepreneurial, goal oriented, enthusiastic and dedicated to teamwork and strong multi-tasking abilities. .

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Standard office computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.

  • Experience with eTapestry donor software.

  • Dedicated to the mission and services of and have the ability to communicate that dedication.

  • Willingness to learn and understand the issues facing the adoption community and how is different than other organizations.
