Whitney, Ross and Libby
Whitney and Ross became parents to daughter, Libby, through domestic adoption. The couple had been trying to conceive for three years and were undergoing infertility treatment. What they were not aware of was that each treatment increased the size of a small tumor growing in the hopeful mother’s breast. At age 31, Whitney was diagnosed with stage II Breast Cancer. She underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and 30 doses of daily radiation; she lost her hair, and with it her chance of ever conceiving a biological child. Determined to be parents, but saddled with an insurmountable amount of debt from the medical treatments, Whitney and Ross turned to Helpusadopt.org. With the financial assistance we provided during our June 2013 grant cycle, they were able to complete their adoption and welcome Libby to their family.
